When I said I love beets I wasn't kidding. We love beet smoothie recipes and can't seem to get enough of them. We have been enjoying both our Vanilla Strawberry Beet Smoothie and this new Spinach Berry Banana Beet Smoothie.
If you like beets, and even if you don't, you should really take a leap and give a beetroot smoothie a try. I use to always think of Beets as a savory item but they work in both sweet and savory dishes and smoothies. Beets can be sweetened up with the right fruit combinations or taken more savory by going heavier on the veggie or spice side.
This purple-hued smoothie calls to me with the beets, mixed berries, almond milk, spinach, and banana. The biggest drawback to a green smoothie can sometimes be the awful color that results in your blender jar. I've seen some nasty-looking mixtures - doesn't mean they taste bad but it sure is easier to slurp back a good-looking and great-tasting beverage. The spinach berry beet smoothie checks both boxes.
Do you know what I love most about smoothies? No waiting...I'm not the most patient person and I appreciate the ease and simplicity of dumping all kinds of delicious and healthy ingredients and transforming them into a tasty smoothie in just minutes. Plus, your options are endless. Take this smoothie as an example, you could add some chia, some protein powder, swap out the almond milk and give yourself lots of variety without too much effort.
Isn't it amazing how you can go from the picture above to this:
Even after making literally 100s of smoothies I still get just a little bit amazed. If you are looking for more smoothie options check out our Smoothie resources and smoothie recipes for some extra inspiration. This smoothie was made in my Vitamix Pro 750. I recommend a high-performance blender if you want to blend hard items like raw beets. Why not try our Berry Beet Juice too?
love the colour now is the beet cooked?
Hi Jody, I don't cook it because my blender is very high powered. If you want, you can cook it a bit to make the blending easier.

Can you do water instead of milk?
Water should work in this recipe but the smoothie might be a little less creamy. If you try it with water, let us know how it turned out.
My daughter is a smoothie hound and we just got her a NutriBullet for Christmas. I'll let her know about this one... it sounds so healthy.
Thanks Lisa. This is one of my new favourites. Even my 8 year old enjoys this one so hopefully your daughter will as well.

I love beet smoothies! This smoothie looks amazing, I'm going to make this one tomorrow for breakfast thanks for the breakfast idea.
Sarah, hope you enjoy it as much as I do.
I love spinach in smoothies. I haven't tried beets yet, but I bet it would be delish!
Christine, you should totally try adding a beet. They have become a staple in my smoothie routine.
What a beautifully delicious start to the day! A great way to get beets in me! Lol! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks Felesha. Beets are one of those ingredients that aren't always top of mind 🙂

I'm gradually warming up to beets, enjoy them grilled and roasted. In a smoothie would be a big leap for me but you make it look good!
I love roasted beets and believe me it would have been a big leap for me to add raw beets to a smoothie just a few weeks ago.
I am curious to try canned beets with this recipe and compare. Great recipe and thanks for sharing!
Thanks Jaki. Let me know the results!
Thanks for the write up,pls ma can one blend beet with out cooking it first, pls I need reply
Yes, if you have a good blender you shouldn't need to cook the beet. I never cook the beets before putting them in the Vitamix. I do however chop them up to make it easier.

It’s nice to find a smoothie recipe that uses beets! Do you think beet powder would work with this recipe instead of an actual beet?
Hi Nicole, I have never tried beet powder so really can't say for sure if it would taste the same but suspect it would blend well. If you happen to try it, would love to know how it worked.
Am going to try the recipes right now. Thanks
