SMoothies 101: The Beginner's guide

Smoothies are a great go-to for  a breakfast  or lunch on the go or an easy way to get more fruits, veggies and nutrients into the diet of a picky eater.

Don't be scared; smoothies come in all the colors of the rainbow. 

Tips for a great smoothie every time

#1 Put the ingredients in the right order: Liquid, soft fruits/veggies, leafy greens, Frozen items, other

#2 Get Flavor from fruit, not juice

Unless you need extra calories, don't add juice to your smoothie.

#3 Don't be afraid to eat with a spoon

Smoothie bowls can be a fun way to mix it up.

#5 Add protein or fat to make this a meal replacement and to satisfy hunger. Protein Powder, Greek Yogurt, Chia Seeds, Nut butters can all be good options.

#6 If you don't have a smoothie setting, start the blender on low and slowly increase speed

Bonus Tip: Use the Tamper to help push ingredients down toward the blades.

#7 Get Creative but remember that smoothies aren't the same thing as milkshakes

A smoothie doesn't have ice cream in it.
